RemCentral - Salary Review & Management Software allows organisations to manage, automate and streamline salary review processes. It has been designed to provide a consistent methodology for determining salary increases across the entire organisation; involve key decision makers in the salary review process; reduce the capacity for errors to occur; and enhance the credibility and commercial focus of the HR team. The software also guides the salary review outcomes in accordance with your desired remuneration philosophy, for example to target increases to top performers within your organisation.
Whilst generic in nature, it is customised to fit specific organisational processes and requirements. RemCentral is made up of the following modules and can be purchased separately or as a whole:
- Module 1: Merit Matrix
The Merit Matrix automatically formulates consistent salary increase recommendations across the business according to:
| - |
Individual employees' position against market remuneration rates |
| - |
Individual employees' performance rankings |
| - |
The organisation' salary increase budget |
- Module 2: Control Centre (including export and import functions)
The Control Centre contains a master spreadsheet which houses all of the employee and remuneration data required by HR and reviewing managers throughout the salary review process. The Control Centre is typically managed by one or a number of HR practitioners within your organisation and it provides automated functionality to allow for the export and import of information between the master spreadsheet and the password-protected files that are generated at a click of a button to distribute to each reviewing manager (entitled 'Manager's File').
The Manager's File is exported from the master spreadsheet in the Control Centre. It contains all of the necessary data for a reviewing manager to make informed, transparent and equitable salary review decisions for his/her staff. The HR practitioner performing the export can adjust the information made viewable within each Manager's File and specify which parts of the Manager's File a reviewing manager can amend, overwrite or update. Information that is typically exported into a Manager's File includes:
| - |
Employees' current salaries |
| - |
Employees' position against market remuneration rates |
| - |
Employees’ performance ratings |
| - |
The salary increase recommendations that RemCentral automatically generates for each employee.
Managers may accept or overwrite these recommended salary increases. Where managers overwrite the automatic recommendations, the software can recalculate the remaining recommendations to show the manager the impact of the decisions they have made. |
| - |
The Manager's File can be customised to allow stepped sign-off by different layers of management within your organisation if necessary |
As a Manager's File is exported and imported in and out of the master spreadsheet in the Control Centre, 'time and date' stamps within the master spreadsheet maintain a clear record of when the most recent changes were made and by whom. This reduces the capacity for error.
- Module 3: Salary Review Letter Generator
The Salary Review Letter Generator facilitates the generation of multiple formats of salary review letters from one source. Rather than generating letters via endless typing of templates, which often involves a high margin for human error, each paragraph is input once and letters are generated at the push of a button.
This module can be configured to develop comprehensive remuneration statements that summarise all changes to the employee's remuneration package. It can also be decentralised to allow multiple users to generate letters relevant to their business unit or geographical location.
- Module 4: Summaries Creator
The Summaries Creator automatically summarises key outcomes of the salary review. It can generate reports for management that identify the results of the review by any grouping used in the master spreadsheet within the Control Centre. For example, reports may be generated according to:
| - |
Reviewing manager |
| - |
Location |
| - |
Cost centre |
| - |
Job family |
| - |
Department |
- Module 5: Customised Report Writer
The Customised Report Writer presents graphs, tables and charts summarising the results of the salary review across the whole organisation. These graphs, tables and charts are completely customised to meet the reporting requirements of your CEO/Board and are directly linked to the master spreadsheet in the Control Centre to provide real-time results.

"With Hewitt's support and the use of their salary review software, RemCentral, our salary review has gone from being a two person exercise over four solid weeks to being a one person exercise from beginning to end. I don't need an additional secretary to do all the letters. It's brilliant, a brilliant product."
