Responsible for
Providing effective IT Security across all facets of IT Infrastructure and applications. |

Reports To
IT Security Manager, Chief Security Officer. |

Supervises
Typically no supervisory experience, may mentor a Security Administrators. |

Main Activities
Providing specialised security skills and services to ensure that use of the chosen security solutions are maximised to protect all aspects of software, communications, networks, application systems, databases and data on the nominated platform(s).
Providing security consultation to technical and business clients.
Reviewing new products/systems for security exposures, implementing into existing environments and providing quality solutions.
Developing security tools (when required) to provide security solutions.
Consulting with Management on policy and strategy involving any aspect of IT Security.
Evaluating new security software and systems and making recommendations on the acquisition of improved Security technology.
Developing and/or contributing to development of security standards, controls, and procedures.

Good technical skills (development tools, operating system) of nominated platform(s).
Good knowledge of security risks and preventative controls.
Good understanding of security operational processes and controls.
General knowledge of security systems used on other in-house platforms.
Good project, analysis, problem solving, and business relationship skills.
Good interpersonal and consultative skills.
Good understanding of security and auditing principles.
An understanding of current legislation and precedence governing IT.
Ability to supervise and motivate a small team of Security Specialists.

Typical Experience
At least 5 years of experience in IT Security or IT Auditing with prior experience in Systems or Software. Computer Science Degree or equivalent together with specialised training in new technologies and legacy systems. |
