Responsible for
Responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulating requirements and company policy at a State level.
 
Reports To
National Compliance Manager.
 
Supervises
Compliance Officers.
 
Main Activities
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies by monitoring compliance by all State Operations.
  • Co-ordinating the investigation and response to all complaints received and to monitor a register thereof.
  • Acting as the Dispute Resolution Officer and to ensure disputed claims are investigated, resolved and reported in accordance with the Code of Practice.
  • Making decisions on disputed claims taking into account policy wordings, legal issues, and the company's current claims settling philosophy.
  • Assisting the Claims Manager with any State Complaints referred to the Claims Dispute Panel.
  • Co-ordinating for the State the implementation of all compliance changes, including the implementation of Privacy and Financial Service Reform (FSR) requirements.
  • Recommending necessary changes to senior management to ensure compliance with regulatory and company policy obligations.
  • Ensuring management and underwriters are aware of shortcomings, trends and issues in regard to claims outcomes, Privacy and FSR.
  • Conducting audit reviews of out-sourced operations each month to ensure compliance with all Service Standards, Policy Conditions, Claims Handling Guidelines, FSRB and Privacy Issues.

    Typical Experience
    Relevant tertiary qualifications and at least 5 years of experience within a claims and/or underwriting role.
     
    Other Comments
    At least 5-7 years of experience in a commercial legal role with a law degree or equivalent qualification.
