Responsible for
Designing, building and testing prototypes of new products.
 
Reports To
Senior Engineer - Fibre Optic Components (R & D).
 
Supervises
No supervisory responsibilities.
 
Main Activities
  • Developing new fibre optic components for use in DWDM (Digital Wave Division Multiplexing) systems.
  • Developing processes and equipment for the manufacture of optical devices.
  • Devising research methods and set up laboratory test equipment, design and instrumentation.
  • Conducting feasibility studies and developing theoretical models within which assignments are conducted and prototype designs are tested.

    Key Skills
  • Complex knowledge of Fibre Optic Components or systems modelling.
  • In-depth knowledge of a dynamic manufacturing environment and manufacturing processes.
  • Project planning and specification skills coupled with problem solving and analysis ability
  • Systematic approach to planning and testing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and consultative skills.

    Typical Experience
    Relevant PhD coupled with at least 2 - 4 years of experience.
