Responsible for
Coordinating the Occupational Health & Safety function by identifying and removing all situations likely to cause accidents to staff and damage to the organisation's property, thereby improving efficiency.
 
Reports To
Occupational Health & Safety Manager, Operations Manager or Human Resources Manager.
 
Supervises
No supervisory responsibilities.
 
Main Activities
  • Providing a technical and training service in respect of Occupational Health & Safety procedures, standards and safe working practices.
  • Monitoring and reporting on unsafe situations and assisting in the implementation of improvements.
  • Preparing safety statistics and liaising with external Safety Organisations.
  • Providing advice on safety issues at organised work meetings.
  • Investigating accidents/injuries and preparing evidence for use in hearings, lawsuits and insurance investigations.
  • Administering the Workers’ Compensation program and implementing process improvements.

  • In depth knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety and Workers Compensation legislation as it apples throughout the organisation.
  • Excellent communication skills & organisational skills.
  • Strong documentation and report writing skills.

    National Safety Council of Australia, Workcover, Environmental Protection Agency, Business Council of Australia and other professional associations.
     
    Typical Experience
    2 - 5 years of experience in a related work environment, combined with or relevant tertiary qualification.
