Customised Market Surveys
What Are Customised Market Surveys?
Customised market surveys are reports containing market intelligence on unique roles or highly specific HR/Remuneration policy and practice information currently not available within CSi’s range of remuneration surveys and HR policy & practice reports.
For example, CSi’s consultants can conduct research on behalf of your organisation into:
- Market remuneration rates for a Translator role that is not regularly reported in CSi’s comprehensive range of remuneration reports; or
- Market remuneration rates for particular roles within a specific geographical region only, for example Wollongong, NSW, Australia or Palmerstone North, North Island, New Zealand; or
- The minimum thresholds (floors) and caps (ceilings) related to commission payments for a selected group of sales roles within organisations offering similar products and services to your organisation; or
- The ‘soft’ benefits (ie. benefits outside of the salary package) provided to certain groups of employees within a group of competitor organisations
CSi formulates the results presented within customised market surveys on market data collected from a selected group of organisations. The format of the results is tailored to meet the needs of your organisations.
Benefits Of CSi's Customised Market Surveys
Customised market surveys allow you to gain the exact market intelligence you need to make market-related pay decisions and to develop competitive HR/Remuneration policies. They can be beneficial in a variety of circumstances, as follows:
- Customised market surveys that present market rates for unique job roles are a vital part of remuneration management as they ensure that pay decisions are made in a fair, consistent and equitable manner for all roles within your organisation, not just the ones typically found in 'off-the-shelf' remuneration reports.
- Customised market surveys can also assist with forecasting remuneration costs for new company initiatives. For example, in cases where your organisation is planning to offer a new product/service line or establish a new office in a different geographical location or introduce a new team or management structure.
- Customised market surveys that present intelligence on specific areas of HR/Remuneration policy and practice can assist with assessing the competitiveness of prevailing arrangements within your organisation. They provide crucial evidence required for formulating a case to shift your policies and practice to a more market competitive position.
Format Of Results
CSi can tailor the results of the research to suit the individual needs of your organisation. Typically, the results are presented as follows:
- Customised market surveys that report market remuneration data for requested roles will generally be provided to you in the standard CSi survey format, unless you require a different format to suit your organisational needs. Where data samples permit, market remuneration rates are presented for the average and 25th, 50th, 62.5th and 75th percentiles for all elements of employees' salaries and benefits packages, including taxable base salary, superannuation, performance pay and various FBT-able and non FBT-able benefits
- Customised market surveys that present market intelligence on areas of HR/Remuneration policy and practice will typically be presented in a report format that shows the results of the research in easy-to-read graphs and charts with accompanying commentary
CSi's Methodology
- Project planning: during this project phase, the way in which the results of the survey will be used within your organisation are discussed. The exact information to be surveyed, the list of organisations for CSi to contact for participation within the survey and the format of the research results are agreed
- Formulation of data capture material: during this project phase, CSi's consultants analyse your organisation’s requirements and design and develop data capture material to facilitate collection of information from the organisations invited to participate in the research
- Data capture: during this project phase, CSi’s consultants contact each targeted organisation and invite their participation in the research. They then dispatch data capture materials and provide any required support to ensure the accuracy of the information submitted by each organisation for inclusion in the report
- Data checking and verification: during this project phase, CSi's consultants rigorously check the data that has been submitted to CSi for inclusion in the research results. Where there are inconsistencies, anomalies or additional information required, CSi’s consultants liaise with relevant organisations to verify or augment the information
- Formulation of results report: during this phase, CSi’s consultants report the results of the research in a format that suits your organisation’s requirements. The report will clearly present the market intelligence you require.
